I think young people is a main consumerism in Japan that they tend to follow the trend of the world. For example, the latest trend is smart phone. Smart phone, like iPhone was first, not so popular among young people, but when they noticed it's usefulness, it became a great hit. Now many young people uses their smart phone almost part of their lifestyle. The advantage of smart phone is that it can use the Internet, so smart phone is no longer a cellphone, it's almost computer. Before the smart phone was not known to the world, we couldn't do the Internet in the train or while we are walking along the street, but now we can use Internet anywhere and now many people are using the Internet in many places. Thanks to young people, I think this trend effected the Japan's society. Varieties of consumerism would effects the society or environment in many ways.

I think I have identity myself with Japanese culture. My parents and school I went have helped me developed the sense of cultural identity. For example, in a Japanese family, children learned to respect elders and at Japanese school, harmony is consider more important than individual achievements. For these reasons, I think I have a sense of cultural identity.

I agree with the opinion that the Millennial Generation has a global perspective. And I also have a global perspective. Recently, there was a worldwide depression of economy at America. This problem effected all of the world, and of course, Japan's economy is now getting worse. Therefore, Japan's company stopped to employ a lot of new graduates. So, now students who graduated from college can't find their job easily than before. If they can't find a job, they remain in the same class for another year. This case is increasing recently. Nowadays, company employs who have 650 score on TOEIC test. This means that company is looking for the person who has a high level English skills. This case is increasing recently.I think this kind of global perspective expressed in the daily lives of young people.

1. Introduce yourself to me.
Hi! My name is Yuka. Call me Yuka. I'm 19 years old and my blood type is B. We are family of four, father, mother, older brother and me. Now I live in Ayase city of Kanagawa prefecture but I was born in Michigan,USA and came back when I was 5 years old. This is one of the reason why I like English the best of all subjects. Also I like to play volleyball. I was belonged to volleyball club in junior and senior high school.
2. What is your opinion of reading in English?
I think reading something in English by myself will improve my English skills. Through reading, I can learn some new words and know the meanings. This will help me to learn a lot of vocabularies. Also the structure of sentences is different between Japanese and English, so if I kept reading in English, I think I might get used to read faster than before.
3.What do you hope to accomplish/learn in the class?
If the sentences are long and complex, I can't understand the meaning of the sentences earlier, so I hope I can read in English faster than before. Also I want to learn a lot of useful vocabularies which native people uses often in their lifestyle.
